Think-A-Move, Ltd.

Think-A-Move, Ltd. (TAM), located in Beachwood, Ohio, has developed innovative technology enabling hands-free device control and communications in noisy environments. This patented technology uses an in-ear microphone that captures sounds that travel back into the ear canal. We then use proprietary speech algorithms, including a speech recognition engine, to process this signal and recognized commands are sent to the unmanned system. Along with hands-free, heads-up device control capabilities, TAM has also created acoustic echo cancellation, ambient noise reduction, and signal processing algorithms to enable its technology to be used in a communications headset. Think-A-Move has also performed pioneering research to be able to use tongue movement for device control.

TAM's technology offers significant benefits:

  • Using speech commands in very noisy environments for hands-free and heads-up device control. Because traditional speech control systems use external microphones, they function poorly in noisy environments, limiting their use.
  • Eliminating the impact of a wide range of ambient noise, including wind, on communications through its use of an in-ear microphone and signal processing algorithms.
  • Allowing the user to employ their hands with other priority tasks as a result of hands-free control.
  • For additional information on the benefits of Think-A-Move's technology, please review the white paper on SPEARTM: Think-A-Move's Speech Control System for Unmanned Vehicles.

TAM's revolutionary technology provides unsurpassed device control and communications capabilities for a variety of end users. Think-A-Move's technological applications range widely. Possible applications include device control of computer systems, unmanned systems, and power wheelchairs. Communications applications include Bluetooth cell phone headsets and communications headsets for the military and first responder markets.

Numerous organizations have awarded TAM grants and contracts to fund the development and commercialization of its technology. These organizations include:

  • United States Army Commercial Pilot Program (CPP)
  • State of Ohio Research Commercialization Grant Program (ORCGP)
  • Tank, Automotive, Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCAT)
